How to purge reset site map with attachments? GSC shows 74 site maps attachment

1. Reset Sitemap Settings: If you want to go back to the default sitemap settings in Rank Math, you can use the Rank Math’s Settings Reset option. This will reset all the settings in the Sitemap Settings, not just one section. You can find the reset button at the bottom of the page in any of the settings sections. 2. Confirm Reset: After clicking the reset button, Rank Math will ask for confirmation before proceeding. Click the OK button to confirm and reset your settings.

If after resetting the settings, you still face issues with the attachment site maps showing in Google Search Console, you may need to exclude the attachments manually from the sitemap. One possible reason can be that your sitemap is heavily cached. Please follow the steps below to see if it works for you.

#1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

#2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:

#3. If the above steps doesn’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter code to your site.

add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Once done, remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap only.
