Hello,
We see that screaming Frog has discovered 303 Internal Nofollow Outlinks and you want to fix them.
In that case, you can follow the steps below to address this issue in the context of Rank Math and WordPress:
1 . Review the Nofollow Settings in Rank Math:
Go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Rank Math > General Settings > Links. Ensure the “Nofollow External Links” option is set correctly.2 . Check individual pages and posts:
Some internal Nofollow links might have been manually added to your content. To address this, you must review and edit each page or post containing Internal Nofollow links. In the WordPress editor, switch to the HTML view (Text tab in Classic Editor or Code Editor in Gutenberg), and search for therel="nofollow"
attribute in the links. Remove the attribute from internal links to ensure they are do follow.3 . Inspect your theme and plugins:
Some themes or plugins might automatically add Nofollow attributes to specific internal links. If you suspect this might be the case, review your theme and plugin settings to identify any options for adding Nofollow attributes. If necessary, consider contacting the respective theme or plugin support for guidance.4 . Bulk update Nofollow attributes:
Suppose you have many posts or pages with internal Nofollow links. In that case, you might want to use a plugin like “Better Search Replace” or “Search & Replace” to bulk update the Nofollow attributes within your content. Be sure to back up your database before performing any bulk operations, as these changes are irreversible. After addressing these potential causes, re-crawl your website using Screaming Frog to verify that the internal Nofollow Outlinks issue is resolved.
While allowing search engines to follow internal links is generally recommended for better indexing and crawl-ability, there might be specific scenarios where adding a Nofollow attribute to internal links is justified.
Review your website’s linking strategy and SEO best practices before making changes.
We hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
We are looking forward to helping you. Let us know how it goes.
Thank you.
We have not set up any nofollow links for internal post, we contacted the theme support, they also denied the fact, they told there is no role of Generatepress theme in marking nofollow links.
We have only enable “nofollow external links” in Rankmath.
We can look forward with “Bulk update Nofollow attributes” but what about the upcoming posts, it will have nofollow attribute too.
Hello,
If the Rank Math titles and meta settings have all links set to ‘follow’ then any new ‘nofollow’ links will be from your theme or another plugin.
If you are unsure where they are coming from, you can do a theme/plugin conflict check to find the source of any new nofollow links. Please follow this guide for how to do a conflict check: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.
