How to add universal to existing property that is G4

#332088
  • I am switching from Yoast to Rankmath. When I set up GA, I did not get universal analytics. How do I add universal analytics to my current G4 property?
If I add a new property for universal, do I delete the old property? If so, what effect does that have on analytics?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You would need to create a new property that is a GA3 or Universal Analytics and use this property for Rank Math’s Analytics.

Please refer to our detailed guide about it here: https://rankmath.com/kb/using-ga4/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

I already have a property created for my site.
Do I delete my old property and create a new one?
    OR
Do I add another property with universal for the same site?

How does either affect google analytics?

    Hello,

You don’t have to delete the old property as you can create a new property with a different version.

You can retain the old property you made if you wish as Google Analytics allows you to have multiple properties in your account.

Do I add another property with universal for the same site?

Yes, you would need to create a new property with Universal Analytics or GA3 enabled.

This doesn’t affect your Analytics integration to Rank Math.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
