Hello,
I apologize for the issues you are facing with your website and the integration of the Better Search Replace plugin with Rank Math. Thank you for raising your concerns.
Regarding your questions:
-
Deleted URLs with 410 Code: If you have deleted URLs that are returning a 410 status code, this is generally the correct approach to inform search engines that the content has been permanently removed. You can safely ignore these in Search Console as they are expected behavior when content is deleted. However, if these URLs are still showing up in Search Console, it might take some time for Google to fully process this information.
-
Pages with Wrong Canonical Tags: If you have pages with incorrect canonical tags, it’s important to correct these to ensure that Google understands which version of the page you want indexed. You may need to manually update the canonical tags or use Rank Math’s features to set the correct canonical URLs. If Google is not recognizing your redirects, it could be due to conflicting information in the canonical tags.
As for using the Better Search Replace plugin, it can be a powerful tool for making bulk changes in your database, but it should be used with caution, especially if you’ve had issues in the past during migration. Here are a few tips:
- Backup Your Database: Always create a backup of your database before making any changes. This way, you can restore it if something goes wrong.
- Test on a Staging Site: If possible, test the changes on a staging site first to see how they affect your site without risking your live environment.
- Be Specific: When using Better Search Replace, be very specific about what you are replacing to avoid unintended changes.
If you are unsure about making these changes or if you continue to experience issues, we recommend replying to this ticket so a human agent from the Rank Math Support team can assist you further.
We hope this helps clarify your concerns!

Hello,
Thank you for contacting support.
Do you want to use that plugin to correct entries in the database? If you are trying to do that, please note that our plugin saves most of the data in a serialized format so using that plugin for replacing purposes will cause issues because you cannot edit serialized data directly.
Regarding your pages, if you already have a 410 status code on them you don’t need to touch them anymore.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
