I have a website of games to play for free online.
I recently changed the menu and added Games as top level but # as url. This way the link is not clickable. But is it a good idea? In its submenu are the categories.
Then I would like to add under Games a link that points to a page with 600 tags. I don’t know what term to use, because I have an Others category.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with your website’s SEO.
I recently changed the menu and added Games as top level but # as url. This way the link is not clickable. But is it a good idea? In its submenu are the categories.
It fine to add an anchor link (#) for a drop-down/mega menu. This will not affect the submenu items or the rest of your page.
Then I would like to add under Games a link that points to a page with 600 tags. I don’t know what term to use, because I have an Others category.
It is up to you what text to use for your tags archive menu link. Since others is taken you can use “Tags”. You can always change the name in future when you find a better link title.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.
I meant the menu with # is called Games. Does this have positive effects even if it doesn’t have a url? I want to rank submenu terms with the main keyword Games.
Hello,
It’s common to see nowadays websites using empty parents due to responsive design and frameworks such as Bootstrap and Zurb foundation, both use similar design where you can’t access the parent while viewing on a mobile or small tablet device.
Using a href=”#” with no anchor will not hurt your rankings one tiny bit. It’s more for aesthetic use for users for user navigation.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.
Thank you
Okay that’s for aesthetic use, but I want to use that term for SEO. Does Google use it or not? I have to make it clear that the site is about Games.
spam?
Hello,
Yes, the previous reply is just spam.
Please note that Search Engines ignore the text after the hashtag
#
in the URLs. Here’s an article you can check as well:

Thank you.
Well, I removed the # and put the url of the games. I created a main category Games and put the other categories in its subcategory. With amazement I notice that the page with all the games from the newest is generated. An unexpected result but consistent with the categories of games.
Now three doubts remain;
1. Is it enough for the site structure to have the categories under Games and start having SEO results?
2. The theme breadcrumb doesn’t show the word Games. This may confuse users and not understand the purpose of the posts. The theme also does not create Breadcrumbs on mobile. I wanted to follow your guide, but I found it complex. Could you help?
3. I’d like to create more sub-categories of Games such as a list of all tags, wallpapers, guides and more. Is it okay under Games even though there are categories like Action, Adventure?Hello,
1. Yes, since categories are meant to show some kind of hierarchy in your posts. This also helps your visitors to easily switch from different categories.
2. If you wanted to customize your theme’s breadcrumbs, then you may need to get in touch with them for assistance. However, you can follow our guide here in applying the breadcrumbs to your site:

3. This will depend if they are still under a “Game” category. In your example, if the posts under Wallpapers aren’t actually games, then you can create a different hierarchy and not include it under games.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
3. All topics will be about the Games. Guides, Wallpapers and so on. In my opinion it makes sense to put those categories under Games.
4. I know, the fourth point wasn’t there but I noticed a serious mistake.
The plugin that creates game posts makes an SEO mistake; Self blogging. How do I solve? Definitely change the paragraphs, meta description and title. Unfortunately being games, I can not modify the H1. I will keep the pictures. The texts are very short, but being games for the moment it shouldn’t be a serious problem. Should that be enough or is there more?
Hello,
3. You can proceed with this approach if you believe this will help both the user and search engine determine the structure of your content.
4. Could you please further explain the issue you are experiencing here in detail? Can you please confirm if you have a separate CPT for your games and Rank Math wasn’t able to provide proper SEO settings?
Please share some screenshots or video screencast so we can provide a solution accordingly.
Looking forward to helping you with this one.
No, I meant I’m looking for a guide on Rank Math on how to improve auto-generated posts from a plugin. Or get advice on how to deal with the situation.
Hello,
Usually, having automated content does cause some issues when working with Rank Math on the backend and if that post type doesn’t support editing, you can leave that as is. The important thing is that your content is engaging to users coming from the search.
However, if the texts and other content on these posts aren’t improving in terms of SEO, then you would need to ensure that this post type allows you to edit its content.
Hope that helps you with your situation.
