Homepage Title Is Incorrect - Support

Hey!

I’m having a strange issue where the page title is incorrectly populating on some devices and some browsers. Clearing the browser cache does not solve the issue on devices with the issue present, nor does it create the problem on the devices where the issue is not present.

It’s weird because when you first load or refresh the page, the title shows correctly in the tab. However once the page loads completely, the <title> tag and tab change to “Homepage Title”. I tried using the 2nd filter posted in this ticket to try and force it, but this didn’t work either.

It’s worth noting that the page description is still correct. Any ideas?

I tried with Chrome and Firefox and I was able to replicate this issue on Firefox.

However, the source code does not contain Homepage Title but it can be seen in the Firefox tab.

Have you already set the Homepage title under Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Homepage title?

If not, please set the title there.

Hey Anas!

Thanks for your response. Yeah the issue seems to be sporadic across different devices and browsers. It’s still showing the incorrect <title> tag for me on certain devices. When I go to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Homepage it shows me this message:

So I provided a screenshot of the settings on that page in the Sensitive Data section. Am I missing something easy? Would there be any difference between the settings on the “Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Homepage” tab vs the settings on the page itself?

Hello,

You are seeing that message because you have set a static page as homepage, so to change the title and description, you will have to go to the specific page.

However, the settings on the page seem to be correct.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Hey Anas,

Wow thanks for the extremely quick reply. I figured it out finally!

The fact that the title was changed for you in the tab but not in the DOM made me realize it’s probably a script changing the page title. I used noscript to hone in on the specific script causing the issue. Sure enough google tag manager was the culprit.

The reason it was so random for me across my devices was due to my adblocker being enabled on certain devices or browsers… Haha idk why I didn’t figure this out sooner.
