Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your SEO titles not being displayed in Google rankings. It can be frustrating when the H1 headings override the SEO titles you’ve set.
Google often chooses to display alternative titles based on various factors, including the relevance of the content and how it aligns with user search queries. If your theme does not support the ‘rewrite titles’ option, there are a few steps you can take to address this:
-
Check Your Title Tags: Ensure that your title tags are descriptive and unique for each page. If multiple pages share similar titles, Google may choose to display H1s instead.
-
Optimize H1 Tags: Make sure your H1 tags are relevant but not overly similar to your SEO titles. This can help differentiate them in Google’s eyes.
-
Use the Title Tag Feature: If your theme is outdated and does not support the title-tag feature, consider updating your theme or switching to a more modern one that does. This will allow Rank Math to manage title tags effectively.
-
Monitor Changes: After making adjustments, monitor your rankings and see if Google starts displaying your SEO titles instead of H1s. It may take some time for changes to reflect in search results.
-
Consult Google’s Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with Google’s guidelines on title links to understand how they generate titles and what factors influence their decisions.

Hello,
That’s something that affects pretty much every site. Google might show a different title/description depending on the search parameters used during the search.
Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.
If everything’s fine and search engines still decide to show a different meta title/description, you may refer to our guide here:

Looking forward to helping you.
