Google search results

  • Hello Support forum

I was wondering if you could help me understand this.

Currently i’m confused about Google is showing me the wrong title on my homepage at google results

    https://imgur.com/a/2EbYf5r

It not supposed to have my company name in front of the title text. I want it on that end etc. Køb Moderne Malerier & Kunst Online %sep% GALLERI FUSION, and not… GALLERI FUSION: Køb Moderne Malerier & Kunst Online.

I’ve tried waiting for Google to crawl my homepage and it is crawled and up to date. But not showing how i wanted it to.

    Thanks
    Jonas 😉

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I can check that all the settings related to the title are correct on your site. And Google has already crawled your page recently.

However, if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Here are some of the common reasons Google might not use the meta description you provided:
The meta description is not relevant or useful (ie, just a collection of keywords).
The exact same meta description is provided across a large number of pages.
The meta description doesn’t match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.

There is a whole article dedicated to this on SearchEngineJournal:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-offers-suggestions-for-avoiding-meta-description-rewrites/359884/

Here is an example showing Google changes title depending on the keyword used:
    description
    &
    description 2

The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know.

    Hello Jaideep Asrani

That makes sense, but a bit unhappy about how Google is handling my homepage title.

Is it possible to consult Google about this? Since my company name isn’t relevant when searching for example “Modern paintings” which is my focus keyword in H1, title and description.
