Hello, my sitemap_index.xml is recognized by Google and accepted without errors. However, 0 pages are recognized.

A different sitemap index for other subpages (CoinMarketCap) that RankMath cannot detect works without problems.

    Google recognizes all pages.

I have already tried various measures from the following thread: https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/https-picturedesign-fr-sitemap_index-xml-not-working-in-google-search-console/. According to the sitemap validate tool, the sitemap_index.html is fine.
The page is also indexed, etc. I cannot find any obvious errors with the HealthCheck, as the error only occurs in Google Search Console, and I cannot find any obvious errors on the page.

I uploaded the Rank Math sitemap to Google for the first time days ago, but tried again today. Without success.

    Could you possibly help me?

    Best regards,

    Thomas

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap not showing any pages in Google Search Console. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap

Make sure your sitemap is correctly configured. You can use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check for any issues. If it returns a success message, then your sitemap is likely fine.

    2. Ensure Your Posts Are Set to Index

If all your posts are set to noindex, your sitemap will appear empty. To check this, go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and ensure that the Index checkbox is enabled for your posts.

    Index Titles and Meta settings

    3. Check Sitemap Location

Ensure that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The correct URL should look like this:
    https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml

    4. Add the Sitemap to Google Search Console

Make sure you have added the correct sitemap URL in Google Search Console under Indexing → Sitemaps. If you haven’t done so, paste the correct sitemap URL and click SUBMIT.

    5. Wait for Google to Fetch the Sitemap

Sometimes, it may take a while for Google to fetch and index the pages from your sitemap. If you’ve recently submitted it, you might just need to wait a bit longer.

    6. Check for Plugin Conflicts

If you suspect a plugin conflict, you can use the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot further.

If you’ve tried all these steps and are still experiencing issues, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific help.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to resolve it for you soon!

Hello, due to the problem and because I need to act quickly, I’ve now downloaded a different sitemap plugin. I’ve noticed that this issue occurs with some plugins, and only a few work.

That’s a shame. I’ve been thinking about subscribing to RankMath, but I need a reliable feature for that.

I would be grateful if you could still find the error so I can switch back to RankMath for the sitemap.

    Best regards,

    Thomas

    Hello,

Please note that the Discovered URLs 0 that you see in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means. In your case, if Google has already found the URLs from your wp-json/coin-market-cap/v1/sitemap.xml sitemap, it will not fetch the Rank Math sitemap again.

As long as Google can crawl your pages, you don’t have to worry.

Here’s a link you can check for more information:

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

Hello, no, the second sitemap has nothing to do with the RankMath sitemap. The second sitemap contains content that RankMath can’t retrieve. The RankMath sitemap contains post, pages, and categories. The other one contains something else. Post, page, and category aren’t included. And even if the sitemap weren’t there, the RankMath would be 0. Because I added the second sitemap later.

So that’s not the problem. The error lies elsewhere. My pages aren’t indexed either, and only when I manually initiate it. When crawling, I get the message that no referring sitemaps were found.

Yesterday, I discovered another tool that can add the post, page, and category as a sitemap, and these are recognized by Google Search Console.

    So that’s not the problem.

    Hello,

We tried to check your sitemap again but we can see it is returning a 404 error. Can you please confirm if you’ve disabled the Rank Math Sitemap module on your website?

In case the module is enabled, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemap, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

Please note that Google can take some time to recrawl your sitemaps. You can monitor the “Last read/crawl date” column in the sitemap index as it will update the date when Google crawls your sitemap.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
