    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

The Google Search Console option inside the Webmaster Tools of Rank Math is just to embed the meta tag with the GSC verification ID of your website.

When verifying the website using your GSC account, you get the options to verify it using HTML file, meta tag, ID, etc. https://i.rankmath.com/2M2IeU

You can enter that ID or the meta tag in the above option of Rank Math to insert the data in the source of your website.

Please refer to this tutorial guide for more details:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/google-site-verification/

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Prabhat,

Thank you for your reply. I followed those exact same steps with the link that you sent me but it did not work.

Search console has already ben verified via Google Analytics and by adding the html file in my FTP but every time I wish to validate through the meta tag option, the page goes to “Oops that page can’t be found”.

I believe this is an issue with your plugin as I tried adding the code with Yoast Seo before deleting it and it synched with Search Console without an issue.

    Many thanks

    James

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

As mentioned in my previous reply, the option under the Webmaster tools of Rank Math is just for inserting the code/meta tag in your website’s source.

However, if you’ve added the id/meta tag, then could you please check if the meta tag is inserted properly in your website’s source? You can have a look at this screencast for a quick reference: https://i.rankmath.com/DTYZFS

If the tag is not added to the source of the website, then Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Please let us know how that goes.

    Thank you.

    Hi Prabhat,

Many thanks, I tried all of those steps but it still doesn’t work.

If it’s not essential I can just do without it?

    Best wishes

    James

    Hello,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Since you mentioned that your domain is already verified in your Google Search Console account, you can skip this HTML verification.

However, I’m assuming that this issue is not just about the verification tag, but the error 404 page not found when saving the General Settings. Could you please try other settings and check if the issue still persists?

Unfortunately, we were unable to pinpoint this issue with just screenshots. If you can provide your WordPress and FTP logins in the sensitive data section, we would be happy to investigate them for you.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle,

Sorry for the delay, I have done a full backup just in case.

I tried changing the settings but it didn’t seem to fix it, it also doesn’t work on another website of mine.

I attached the sensitive data above

    Many thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

I’ve replicated the issue on your site. Since it’s also happening to your other site, could you please check your server if you have the ModSecurity feature enabled?

You can get in touch with your web host for checking this on your websites.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hi Reinelle,

I can confirm that Modsecurity is activated for both websites?

    Should I deactivate it?

    Many thanks

    Hi Reinelle,

I meant Modsecurity is activated on both websites, should I deactivate it?

    Many thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for the update.

You can disable the ModSecurity and check if the issue still persists on your site. If it does, this suggests that the rules that have been set are blocking the requests from our plugin.

Your web host should be able to help you configure this option and unblock these requests on your server.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.
