Google Not Indexing My Website – Previously Used Expired Domain Issue

    Hello,

I own the domain dvlamotcheck.com and submitted it for indexing in Google Search Console on February 18, 2025. Everything seems fine, including the sitemap, robots.txt, and other necessary configurations.

However, I recently discovered that this domain was likely used by someone else in the past and then expired before I acquired it in May 2024. When I search using site:dvlamotcheck.com, a previously indexed link appears with the same domain, and it shows that Google indexed it back in 2020—long before I owned it.

The issue is that Google is not indexing my website, while other search engines like Bing have successfully indexed it.

I initially uploaded the sitemap using Yoast SEO. However, when I entered it in Google Search Console, it showed 0 discovered URLs. To troubleshoot, I manually uploaded the sitemap in public_html and resubmitted it, but the issue persisted. Today, I switched from Yoast to Rank Math and updated the sitemap again, but it still shows 0 discovered URLs in Google Search Console.

    I have double-checked everything:
✅ Sitemap is correct and accessible
    ✅ robots.txt is properly configured
✅ No “noindex” tag is present anywhere

If Bing can index my website, why is Google not indexing it?

    I would like to know:

Could the past history of this domain be preventing Google from indexing my site?
How can I resolve this issue and get my website indexed by Google?
Are there any specific actions I need to take to remove old indexed links and refresh my site’s status in Google’s index?

Any guidance or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with Google not indexing your website. Thank you for providing detailed information about your situation regarding the domain dvlamotcheck.com.

Could the Past History of This Domain Be Preventing Google from Indexing Your Site?

Yes, the previous history of the domain can impact its current indexing status. If the domain was previously associated with low-quality content or spammy practices, it might have been penalized by Google, which could affect your ability to get it indexed now. You can check for any manual actions in your Google Search Console under the Manual Actions report to see if there are any penalties associated with the domain.

How Can I Resolve This Issue and Get My Website Indexed by Google?

Here are some steps you can take to improve your chances of getting indexed:

    1. Submit a Sitemap: Ensure that your sitemap is correctly submitted in Google Search Console. Since you mentioned that it shows 0 discovered URLs, double-check that the sitemap URL is accessible and correctly formatted.
    2. Check Robots.txt: Make sure that your robots.txt file does not block Google from crawling your site. You can use the robots.txt testing tool to verify this.
    3. Request Indexing: Use the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console to request indexing for specific pages. This can sometimes prompt Google to crawl and index your site more quickly.
    4. Monitor for Errors: Keep an eye on any crawl errors reported in Google Search Console, as these can provide insights into what might be preventing indexing.
    5. Use Instant Indexing: Consider using the Instant Indexing plugin for Google to help submit your URLs directly to Google.

Are There Any Specific Actions I Need to Take to Remove Old Indexed Links?

    To remove old indexed links:

    • You can use the Removals tool in Google Search Console to temporarily hide outdated content from search results. However, this does not guarantee that the old links will be removed permanently.
    • If you find that there are still issues with old content appearing, consider reaching out to Google through their support channels or forums for further assistance.
