    I have run into an issue with Google news, I hope you can help me with this and let me know if its related to rankmath because I think its an indexing issue and I have enabled Rankmath for that.

    Google news can’t identify my thumbnail picture for any blog post. they tell me I need to ‘Provide a direct link to your image’ but I have no idea how to do this, also the image does have a URL so I dont understand what they’re referring to

    google support gave me a solution saying I should

    Here you create the node for an image with an id that represents the web page, but not the image (just click on the URL listed as id to check). Provide a direct link to your image.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Upon checking your site here, I have noticed that you do not have the Rank Math news sitemap linked into your main sitemap. This is because you are using the Free version here. With the Pro version, there is a module you can enable to use the news sitemap whereby Google will be able to detect all your news content used together with the news article schema.     thank you for your reply.

    I have set up google news and its picking up the news as I intended it to, my issue is the image which is supposed to be visible is not.

    its not that google news isn’t detecting what makes a ‘news article’ so I dont understand how the original free version of rank math isn’t able to indicate that the thumbnail image to each image has its own URL which is supposed to happen anyways regardless.

    I’ve tried to check your sitemap, and it is redirecting to your localhost. Could you please confirm if this is also happening on your end or are you making any changes at the moment?

    but I have no idea why its redirecting you to the localhost to be honest with you, do you have any idea if this could be an issue on my side? i am not running any changes to the site

    Hello,

    We apologize for the confusion, your sitemap is working just fine.

    Do note that Google takes the featured image from the featured image you set in your post and sadly, it is automatic and we have no control over it. It is Google’s decision to show it or not.

    Rank Math will help Google determine the right image of your post by adding schemas, news-sitemap and etc., so it increases your odds to display it (so maybe in a few days it will be shown there).

    To further check the issue you are experiencing, you need to make sure that you have a news-sitemap.xml present in your main sitemap.

    If you prefer, we can check the settings over your admin dashboard. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
