google analytics issue after installing rankmath

I’m working on a client’s site and we did a major overhaul (new layout, removed most of the content, etc) in the process I set up RankMath and removed Yoast without realizing they had Google Analytics connected to Jetpack.
When I installed RankMath, analytics stopped collecting data. I removed Jetpack, reconnected everything, checked all of my settings and connections between Search Console, GA, and the site, and still, I cannot get ANY traffic to register in GA.

I posted this to the FB group as I don’t know if it is a Rank Math issue or not but it was removed for violating the rules and I was told to contact via here.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please confirm if the Google Analytics data you are referring to is from Rank Math Analytics? Or from Jetpack’s?

Or you’re referring to your actual Google Analytics data in your Google account?

Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

Hello, what happened is that this client had Yoast and Jetpack installed. I removed Yoast and installed Rank Math. I didn’t know they had GA set up with Jetpack. I noticed GA wasn’t working and saw she had 2 connections (rank math and jetpack). I removed Jetpack and disconnected and reconnected rank math. I still am unable to get any data to Google Analytics to show.

Am I able to check the installation of GA with Rankmath by checking the source code of the homepage? I tried searching for analytics or google and nothing came up, so I don’t know if the rankmath code is different. Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for that clarification, and apologies for the delay.

Please follow the steps in this link for initial troubleshooting steps:

I see that 2 GA tags are installed. At the moment I turned rankmath tracking off to try and sort it – see if you can identify where a second code is coming from? we didn’t have this issue before rankmath and now we do so not sure how to resolve it. Thank you so much for your help

    Hello,

I checked your website, and I can only see 1 Google Analytics tag installed on your website.

Can you please clear your website and browser cache on your end and see if the duplicate GA tags you see goes away? You may also do a hard refresh on your browser:

    Windows: Ctrl + F5
    Mac/Apple: Apple + R or command + R
    Linux: F5

Let me know how it goes. We are looking forward to helping you.

Using the Google Tag Assistant I can see there are two tags installed. I am not able to attach a photo. Do you have any other idea what might cause this issue for Google Analytics not to collect information? It has been empty since March 2nd. Thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for the update.

It seems that you’re referring to the 2 Google tags result using the Google Tag Assistant in the image attached in the sensitive data section. That is a false positive result from that extension as they are the same tags and we’re only seeing 1 tag at the moment.

Could you please share with us a screenshot of your organic traffic from the last 30 days from your Google Search Console account? You can use a tool like this and add the link in the sensitive data section.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
