Hello,
For setting redirections when a page/post is changing its URL, I am usually using RankMath. But when it comes to set redirections after changing the permalinks / URL for my Geodirectory places, the plugins are not working. I have questioned Geodirectory support, and they confirmed RankMath is maintaining GeoDirectory. Can you tell me how to solve this up ?
Thanks

Thank you for contacting support.
Please note that this feature to automatically set the redirections only applies to post types and not taxonomies and the places in the GeoDirectory plugin are essentially taxonomies so this won’t work there.
This is the default behavior of the plugin and it cannot be changed.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Sorry to jump in, but GeoDirectory places is a custom post type, not taxonomies. Just FYI…
Hello @poltaj,
Yes, the Places are a post type, and the auto-redirect option is working fine for them on our end. @agencebluekat, please note that the Auto Post Redirect option only works when you change the slug of the page. It will not work when you update the permalink structure.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hello @Jaideep,
Unfortunately, it seems that the Auto Post Options doesnt work with me when the slug is changed.. can you please provide support & investigation ?
Thanks
Hello,
We can confirm that the Auto Post Redirect option is working for the GeoDirectory’s Places CPT – here’s a short video: https://i.rankmath.com/v/kEJB1s
If this option does not work for the Places CPT on your website please first make sure to isolate Rank Math and GeoDirectory (uninstall other plugins except the two) to see if it works then. If it still does not work, you can share access to your website with us so we can help investigate the issue for you.
Please follow these steps to share your website access with us:
- Edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the Sensitive Data section. This is a secure section that only our support staff can access.
- Make sure you take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
- If you prefer, you can use this plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
- You can also use this plugin to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any): https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We are looking forward to hearing back from you.
Hello @great,
I appreciate your support proposal, i may use temporary login URL for you to access to the website and perform check. To which email adresse should i send it to ?
Thanks
Hello,
You can use s******@r*********** as the email for the temporary login.
Once you are done, please share the generated temporary login URL with us in the designated Sensitive Data section.
You can delete the temporary login URL after we have been able to resolve the issue.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Thanks @great, the temporary link is now in the sensitive section, many thanks for your support
Hello,
Thank you for granting us access to your website. We investigated this issue, and it looks like your GeoDirectory permalink setting is the culprit.
For some reason, when the Full location with category option is selected in WordPress Settings > Permalink > GeoDirectory permalinks, the Auto Post Redirection stops working. We were able to replicate this on our end as well.
We temporarily switched the GeoDirectory permalink setting to the Default option on your website, and as you can see from the screenshot, the Auto Post Redirection is working fine.
We’re not quite sure why this is the case, but I have just escalated this with our developers, and we’ll get back to you when we have an update.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation
Thanks @great for the deep investigation, looking forward to your technical feedback 🙂
Hello,
Just letting you know that we have talked to the developers and raised an issue on GitHub to get this fixed in one of the upcoming updates.
We associated this ticket with the issue so when it gets fixed you’ll be notified of the same.
Thank you.
Thanks @miguel. I have a second website with similar issue between RankMath and GeoDirectory, do i need to submit another ticket and wait for this one to be solved ?
Hello,
No, you do not need to submit another ticket. This issue is plugin-wide, so it will be fixed on the plugin; just make sure to update your plugin when the fix is released, and you’re good.
Thank you for choosing Rank Math.
