Hello Duncan,
It is very tricky to get FAQ Block to work on the Elementor pages.
It has to be either the first or the last thing you add. If you add an FAQ Block and then make changes to your pages using Elementor – the FAQ might vanish from the frontend but the Schema might stay.
You can check here: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/
If that is the case, you can create a regular text block for showing FAQ using Elementor for visitors and let Rank Math’s FAQ block handle the Schema.
However, do this only if you can make it work as we do not officially support FAQ block on Elementor.
Thank you for your message Todd. Did you watch the video I sent please? You will see that it was added at the end but doesn’t even appear on the front end? I understand your solution but feel this will not work in Google because lets say I didn’t add it in in the front end or added any old rubbish, I would think Google is wise enough not to give people the FAQ’s – encourage them to go to the site and they find my any old rubbish. i’d like to think Google has a back up to prevent this and only display the correct content?
Regardless of that – would you mind watching the video again please as this was filmed by one of your team and only shows it being displayed correctly in the schema mark up and not on the front end which is a pretty glaring failing unless something wasn’t checked or something please?
Hi Duncan,
1. Since Rank Math is already adding the FAQs into the Schema – the only issue here is that the FAQs do not appear on the page itself.
2. To get around this, you can use any Text element to add the FAQs as regular text.
3. This way, your regular text element will have FAQs for users, and Rank Math will be adding the FAQ Schema for the bots in the page’s source.
It is the only solution I can offer other than using the Block Editor.
As we said, the FAQ block on Elementor can be a hit or miss as the block was specifically created only for Gutenberg.
Hiya Todd, thanks for your message. I would happily use the block editor and have done so but the issue I have is that the block editor doesn’t work to display the text. It’s a miss in terms of it’s compatibility with Elementor and there’s no hit (only that it adds the back end FAQ schema markup) – unless you can advise otherwise?
There is only one workaround and that is to add in the text independently into the text element. You will see in the video using the block editor will only give the FAQ schema and not the front end visual – can you confirm that is correct please and there is NO way of displaying the FAQ visually through Mathrank other than manually adding it independently?
Thanks again
Hello,
Yes, right now unfortunately if you use Elementor and the FAQ Block, you will have to add manually the FAQ in the frontend meanwhile Rank Math will add the FAQ in the backend. We know it is not the best way and we are working on making it compatible with Elementor, but for now, it is the best solution we have to allow using the FAQ system from Rank Math in Elementor.
Looking forward to help you.
Thank you Alberto – really appreciate your help π
