  • Hello,
We found out that 2 of our sitemaps don’t work anymore. It is about the sitemap: /featured_item-sitemap.xml & /page-sitemap.xml
The strange thing about this is, they are redirects 404 on page. How can we make the sitemaps work again? We can’t find the issue.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your sitemaps on the website https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/index-in-advanced-tab.jpg. If the sitemaps for /featured_item-sitemap.xml & /page-sitemap.xml are redirecting to a 404 error page, there are a few common reasons why this might be happening:

    1. Permalink Structure: If you recently changed your permalink structure, make sure that you update your sitemap accordingly.
    2. Rewrite Rules: Ensure that the correct rewrite rules are in place for your server. Depending on whether you are using an Apache or Nginx server, you may need to add specific rewrite rules to your configuration files.
    3. Caching: If you are using a caching plugin, make sure to exclude the sitemap files from being cached. Caching the sitemaps can lead to them not being updated correctly.

To address these issues and make your sitemaps work again, please follow these steps:

    1. Check Rewrite Rules: Depending on your server type (Apache or Nginx), ensure that the correct rewrite rules are in place. You can refer to our guides for Apache and Nginx servers on how to add the necessary rewrite rules.

    2. Exclude Sitemaps from Caching: If you are using a caching plugin, exclude the sitemap files from being cached. Caching the sitemaps can cause them to show outdated information. You can follow our guide on how to exclude sitemaps from caching for detailed instructions.

If after following these steps the issue persists, please reach out to your server administrator or hosting support for further assistance. They should be able to help you troubleshoot and resolve any server-related issues affecting your sitemaps.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and we appreciate your efforts in resolving this issue. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out. We are here to help 24/7, 365 days a year.

    Best regards,
