Focus Keywords not saving

    Hi,
    I see that the issue that I am facing right now been reported plenty of times over past months. All tickets been closed but none of them post a solution on that.

    Initially reported it on WordPress Support page (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/seo-detals-update-your-post-score-not-saving/) but pushing it here for solution and further evaluation.

    Version with issue: 1.0.42.3

    I have created new post and put Focus Keyword in Gutenberg Rank Math part. After entering the post again there is Focus keyword missing and on list of post the score for SEO stating Update post.

    The issue is not really related to Browser cache etc. as tried in 3 different browsers with same issue.

    On one of my posts, after publishing it, downgraded to 1.0.42.2, put Focus Keyword and saved – same issue. Downgraded to 1.0.42 and repeat steps – no change. Upgraded back to 1.0.42.3 and repeat steps and finally worked on already published post.

    Then I create new posts and issue reappear. No chance to save Focus Keyword in any old posts and on new posts.

    Please advise here what is the issue and is solved, how was solved, as there is plenty of tickets and nobody really tell how this was fixed on their sites.

    Hello,

    I have checked the website and every time I work with a post (even when saving it as a draft) it shows in the dev console the following error: 

    GET https://yourwebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/users/me?_locale=user 403
POST https://yourwebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/2339/autosaves?_locale=user 403

    Those errors can happen by several reasons like not valid permissions in folders, incorrect .htaccess… I have added here a guide you should check: https://docs.presscustomizr.com/article/195-http-error-403

    Could you check it and see if it solves your issue?

    Firstly, I would appreciate if you will not disconnect other plugins like Jetpack.
    If you think is issue with Jetpack, I would rather say that Rank Math got an issue with Jetpack not the other way.

    The error is reported by wp-json in relation to rank math

    api-fetch.min.js?ver=b437dd9d1118e698b1b85961e759bf03:2 POST /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta?_locale=user 403

    And would appreciate investigation on that matter.

    this User 403 error gives me thinking.
    I turned off Rank Match: Role Manager and focus keyword saved on selected post and there is not error of this king in dev. console.

    May be coincidence, but will check on other websites to confirm.

    But that’s only on one website.
    On other I don’t have this part enabled and the issue appear as well, hence look like coincidence.

    Confirmed, on other website, old posts cannot amend focus keywords and console reporting errors.

    was blocked by firewall for WAF-RULE-233 /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta?_locale=user

    As a temporary solution, as I have static IP that I am using to access my website, I have added my IP into whitelist of Wordfence to bypass rules and result fixing issue. However, this is only temporary fix and require from Rank Math further investigation.

    Done further investigation and found that Wordfence is blocking this type of behaviour class this in WAF-RULE-233. Its possibly in relation to previously reported vulnerabily and I assume is correct.

    Before whitelisting it (which may cause security issue), can we have a look – can author of the plugin look how to sort this?
