Focus Keywords and extra small words

Hi, New convert to Rank Math, loving it so far.

I am working on improving my keyword Rank Math page scores.

Do Focus Keywords have to be an exact match?

example: my focus word it “Contact Us Page Best Practices”

So I can get that in my page title pretty easily:
Contact Us Page Best Practices – Guidelines & Examples

In my page description, it might read better to have
Best Practices for Contact Us Pages…..

Since it is not an exact match for the focus keyword used inside of SEO meta description.

    Any thoughts?

Should I reword my page description so it is an exact match?
Will ranks change b/c the keyword phrase is reversed?

Just trying to learn the best practices so I can get it correct from the start.

    Thanks! — Steven

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today and for switching to our plugin.

At the moment, Rank Math will only check for an exact match of the focus keyword in your content and you will need to reword you description to pass this test.
Search engines algorithms will provide different results depending on the order of words on your keyword phrase and thus you should ensure that the keywords match your SEO campaign target.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, that was what I was thought it would do

Here is what I might do.

the first couple of keywords are what I want to rank in search engines.

Then if I have an h2 or other SEO element that reads better by including a small word like (a, an, in, etc) then I will add that keyword to rank math.

This way I can get the green check.

I know the green checks have no bearing on search results but for me, it will signify that the post has been reviewed and it will keep me from trying to fix it multiple times.

    Does this seem reasonable?

Does rank math put any significance on the order of focus keywords?

    Thanks! — Steven

    Hello,

    Thank you for the response.

This is a reasonable course of action and no the plugin does not put any significance on the order of focus keywords.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

In regards to the Rich Snipets.
I can see that myblog posts (howto, plugin roundups, design guides) will we Rich Snippet Type: Article.

How do I know if they should be Article, Blog Post, or News Article?

Where could I go to learn about each type or the pros and cons?

Fantastic! Just what I was looking for.

For a homepage on a website, it is okay to set the snippet type as none?
or do you always want to have s rich snippet type?

    Hi Steven,

    Thanks for the question.

Yes you can set this to none, if your homepage lists the latest blog posts then each post will possess its own schema. On the other hand if you have a static page the default schema types for the homepage will be automatically loaded ie Organization, Breadcrumblist, Website etc.

I hope this info helps. Thank you.

    Thanks!

My home page is a static wordpress page
    https://wphostingreviews.com/

To confirm, If I set the snippet type to none, the snippet type will be none but all of the other schema types will still display . (orgnaization, website, etc)

Thanks for all the answers just want to make sure I fully understand the settings.

    Hi Steven,

This is correct! All the other schema types will be available on the page.
