I was able to check that the route we use to save the meta data: /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta is being blocked by WordFence Firewall:

I am not using word fence on that site I am using ithemes. I tried to add the code and it seems like it did not stay there. Do I have to switch to word fence?

I can check that WordFence is disabled but it is still blocking the route. Please activate it and use the guide to whitelist the route. You can disable it again after whitelisting.
