Focus Keyword Not Recognised for One Post Despite All Troubleshooting

    Hello,

I’m encountering an issue where one specific post keeps showing “Keyword: Not Set” in the SEO Details column of the WordPress “All Posts” page, even though the Focus Keyword is correctly entered and saved in the Rank Math sidebar.

Every other post on the site displays the keyword and SEO score correctly.

    Here’s what I’ve already tried:

Deleted and re-added the Focus Keyword several times, saving after each change.

Cleared all caches (browser, plugin, CDN, and object cache).

Ran Remove Rank Math Transients and Rebuild Index for Analytics from Status & Tools → Database Tools.

Disabled the Content AI module after noticing the console warning
rank-math-content-ai-page-css was added to the iframe incorrectly.

Verified all network requests (/wp-json/ and admin-ajax.php) return 200 OK.

Confirmed that the issue affects only one post, not the entire site.

Despite all these steps, the keyword for that post still doesn’t appear in the Posts list. It looks like Rank Math’s editor is showing the keyword but not properly saving or syncing the underlying meta record for that specific post.

Could you please investigate this behaviour or provide a proper fix?

    System details:

    WordPress 6.8.x

    Rank Math 1.0.25x

    Theme: Kadence

    Editor: Gutenberg

    Approx. 500 posts

    Issue: isolated to one post

    Thank you,
    Odile

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the focus keyword not being recognized for that specific post. Thank you for providing detailed troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken; it helps us understand the situation better.

Since you’ve already tried several methods, here are a few additional suggestions:

    1. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can interfere with Rank Math’s functionality. You can follow our guide on checking for plugin conflicts to see if any other plugin might be causing this issue.

    2. JavaScript Errors: Since you mentioned that you disabled the Content AI module due to a console warning, it might be worth checking for any JavaScript errors that could be affecting the Rank Math editor. You can diagnose JavaScript-related errors using your browser’s console. Here’s a guide on how to check JavaScript errors in Chrome.

    3. Database Check: If the issue persists, it might be worth checking the database directly to see if the focus keyword is being saved correctly in the postmeta table for that specific post. You can use a tool like phpMyAdmin to inspect the wp_postmeta table and look for the rank_math_focus_keyword entry for that post ID.

    4. Recreate the Post: As a last resort, if none of the above solutions work, you might consider creating a new post and copying the content from the problematic post into it. This can sometimes resolve issues related to corrupted post metadata.

If these suggestions do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can take a closer look at your specific case and provide further assistance.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

I noticed something unusual while testing.
When I duplicated the problematic post using my “Duplicate Post” plugin, the SEO score of the original post instantly updated and displayed correctly in the Posts list.
However, as soon as I deleted the duplicate draft, the SEO score of the original post reverted to “N/A.”

This suggests that the metadata and focus keyword are stored correctly, but Rank Math’s internal cache or analytics index isn’t persisting the connection until a wp_insert_post event occurs (as triggered by the duplication plugin).

It looks like Rank Math is rebuilding and then immediately dropping the cache entry for that post.

Could you please investigate this caching/indexing behaviour? It seems like a reproducible bug rather than a configuration issue.
