Filter to add missing ALT attributes for images added outside post or page

I have a few areas on a site that missing alt tags are not being populated and I was wondering if there was a filter to do that? The areas are outside the a post or page’s content.

For example, in the attached URL which is an archive with latest posts, the template has been created by a GeneratePress content template using the GenerateBlocks plugin. The archive loop images have their alt tags blank, you can see it by inspecting the element and from a failed LightHouse accessibility test as well.

On single posts, the author avatar also has the alt tag blank.

Is there a filter I could use to solve the issue?

    Thank you

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Unfortunately, the images added by your theme or builder are not affected by our Add missing ALT attribute feature.

Please note that the Add missing ALT attributes and Add missing TITLE attributes options in Rank Math are not added to your images in the media gallery as the feature works only on the fly (applied on the front end when your page loads on the browser).

Also, images added by your WordPress theme or page builder to various sections like your sliders, thumbnails, icons, etc. will not be affected as they only apply to images added directly to your content.

In this case, you may need to add them manually to the images in your media gallery. If those are still missing on the front end, we recommend getting in touch with your theme provider to add those tags.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
