My blog post links and blog tag links keep coming up as “Duplicate without user-selected canonical” in my search console I tried fixing and started validation via the search console a few days ago and yesternight, I received a mail saying it failed. This the mail mail screenshot >>> https://ibb.co/30fWGTB

Then its is what the error looks like…>> https://ibb.co/6Hds82G

Note:- you will observe that the links, are feed links and also, they are articles post tags in most cases. Few months ago i deleted most of the post that i considered being spammy and those tags associated with them, i automatically redirected all of them to my home page using a WordPress plugin “All-404 to home page” so ideally, i expected all the links to be redirected which was exactly the way i wanted it. Now that the feed links to those deleted and redirected pages are showing up as “Duplicate without user-selected canonical” how do i fix it.

    Please help me

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

The feeds on your site are not returning a 404 not found status.

Feed URLs are not created for humans, but for RSS feed crawlers and readers. They are only basic code versions of your actual content pages.

If you have feed pages, ensure that they are not set to index. You do not want these pages to be indexed as Google doesn’t like them and would most not likely not show them to users anyways.

Also, if you wanted to disable them on your site, you can follow this guide:
    https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-disable-rss-feed/

Alternatively, you can disallow bots from crawling the feed URLs from the robots.txt file at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Edit Robots.txt

    User-Agent: *
    Disallow: */feed/

Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your site to reflect the changes.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Hey, prefer the code option, but when I implemented it, the code seems not to be working properly, it showed me some sort of error and not showing the embedded home page link as it should… This is what i see https://ibb.co/NTHD9HR

i think the link of code where it carried the home page link to be embedded is somehow incorrect or it not up to the current PHP version writing standard… Any help please

The reason I did not optin for the plugin is that one only has 3 options either to redirect to the home page all RSS links or totally turn off or return a 404 … are this option really good and will they not affect my SEO in some way?

    Hello,

That indicates the code is working and the feed is now disabled.

Yes, this will not significantly affect your SEO. If Google is still crawling that feed URL, you can implement the robots.txt rule my colleague presented.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
