Favicon not appearing in Google SERP

#852127
  • Everything was fine until last month when my website’s favicon stopped appearing in Google SERPs. I checked the customized theme options, and everything seems normal. Could this be related to the latest Rank Math update?

The favicon shows up when opening the website, but not in SERPs.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your website’s favicon not appearing in Google SERPs. It can be frustrating when things change unexpectedly.

Since you mentioned that the favicon shows up on your website but not in the SERPs, it’s important to note that this could be related to how Google crawls and indexes your site. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Favicon Settings: Ensure that your favicon is correctly set in your WordPress Dashboard under Appearance → Customize → Site Identity.

    2. Clear Cache: Sometimes, caching can prevent changes from appearing. We recommend clearing your site, plugin, or any server-level cache. You can follow the guidelines on clearing cache in WordPress.

    3. Google’s Favicon Crawler: Keep in mind that Google’s favicon crawler may take some time to update the favicon in the SERPs. You can refer to Google’s guidelines for more information on how favicons are handled.

    4. Re-indexing: If you have made recent changes, it might take some time for Google to re-index your pages. You can check if your pages are indexed using Google Search Console.

If everything seems correct and the issue persists, it might not be directly related to the Rank Math update but rather how Google is processing your favicon. If you have further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.

We can see from your page source code that the correct icon is already set properly, and is also showing on Google search. favicon

Our plugin is not responsible for controlling the favicon that appears on your website. Usually, that’s built into the theme options. Google uses the Google Favicon user agent to fetch the favicon from your website and caches it on its servers. Since this user agent is a low-volume crawler, sometimes it may take a while for Google to update the favicon if you have changed it recently.
