    My favicon is not showing up in searches for robertlederman.com on any search engine.
    For ledermanvision.com its favicon shows up in chrome but not in edge. I’d like to fix both.

    For robertlederman.com, I’ve tried
    Log into WordPress admin (yoursite.com/wp-admin)
    Go to “Appearance” → “Customize” in the left sidebar
    Look for “Site Identity” or “Site Icon”
    Click “Select Site Icon” or “Upload Site Icon”
    Upload your favicon image (should be at least 512×512 pixels – WordPress will resize it automatically)
    Click “Publish” or “Save Changes”

    I see that in page source I don’t have <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang=”en-US” prefix=”og: https://ogp.me/ns#”&gt;
    <head>
    <meta charset=”UTF-8″>
    <link rel=”icon” type=”image/x-icon” href=”/favicon.ico”>

    which is apparently a problem.
    Anyway, please help me till the end. For both my sites if possible.
    I’m using wordpress for both sites.

  • Hello,

    We apologize for the issue you are facing with the favicons not showing up in searches for your websites. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve already taken.

    For robertlederman.com:

    1. Setting the Favicon: It seems you have followed the correct steps to set the favicon through the WordPress Customizer. Ensure that you have published the changes after uploading your favicon image.

    2. Check for Caching: Sometimes, caching can prevent changes from appearing immediately. We recommend clearing your site, plugin, or any server-level cache. You can follow this guide on clearing cache in WordPress.

    3. Favicon in SERP: If the favicon is still not showing in search results, it may take some time for search engines to update their cache. You can also refer to Google’s guidelines regarding favicons in search results.

    4. HTML Structure: Regarding the missing and tags, these are essential for proper HTML structure. If your theme is missing these tags, it could lead to various issues, including how favicons are recognized. We recommend checking your theme files or contacting your theme provider for assistance.

    For ledermanvision.com:

    1. Cross-Browser Issues: If the favicon shows up in Chrome but not in Edge, it could be due to browser caching. Try clearing the cache in Edge or checking if there are any specific settings affecting favicon display.

    2. Favicon Format: Ensure that your favicon is in a supported format (like .ico or .png) and that it meets the recommended size of at least 512×512 pixels.

    3. Testing: You can use tools like Facebook Sharing Debugger to scrape your site again and see if it recognizes the updated favicon.

    If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. We’re here to help!

    Hi I”ll be available only later. please let me know how to initiate the conversation with a live agent when I’m available again.

    I’m now available. Can someone be in touch with me?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

    Google is not showing it. Google uses the Google Favicon user agent to fetch the favicon from your website and caches it on its servers. Since this user agent is a low-volume crawler, sometimes it may take a while for Google to update the favicon if you have changed it recently or after Google cached it.

    You can learn more about how Google shows the favicon in search results from this article: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search

    Please note that a favicon will never be guaranteed, even if you follow all the procedures, as mentioned in the Google guidelines:
    Favicon

    There’s nothing we can do from our side as our plugin doesn’t even handle the favicon generation on any website.

    Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

    Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

    Thank you.
