FAQ schema template vs. static faqs via accordion in builder

    Hello,

I have a question regarding the use of your FAQ Schema feature. A client of mine would like to integrate FAQs on their website.

The client has created a custom FAQ Schema template in Rank Math. My question is: what is the difference between using such a template and simply adding FAQs as accordion elements on the page (e.g., with the Breakdance Builder)?

Up until now, I have always implemented FAQs directly as content on the website. I would like to understand whether using the Rank Math FAQ Schema provides an additional SEO benefit compared to only displaying the FAQs in an accordion, and if both methods can or should be combined.

I understand that the faq schema template creates a json file which is perfect for search engine machines to read but I was thinking that Google read static FAQs implemented in the builder as well as faqs.

Additional, I would like to know how to add a faq schema at non Gutenberg or Classic WordPress Editor pages (you only describe these in your documentation https://rankmath.com/blog/faq-schema).

Thank you in advance for your clarification.

    Best regards,
    Christian

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding the integration of FAQs on your client’s website. Thank you for raising this concern.

Using the Rank Math FAQ Schema template provides a structured way to mark up your FAQs, which can enhance SEO by making it easier for search engines to understand the content of your page. The FAQ Schema generates JSON-LD markup that helps Google recognize the FAQs as structured data, potentially leading to rich results in search listings. This can improve visibility and click-through rates.

On the other hand, displaying FAQs as accordion elements (like with the Breakdance Builder) is a user-friendly way to present information, but it may not automatically provide the same structured data benefits unless the FAQ Schema is explicitly added to those elements. If you use both methods—adding the FAQ Schema template and displaying FAQs in an accordion—you can maximize both user experience and SEO benefits. However, ensure that you do not create duplicate schema entries, as this could lead to errors.

Regarding adding FAQ Schema on non-Gutenberg or Classic WordPress Editor pages, you can still utilize Rank Math’s advanced schema generator. You would need to access the Rank Math settings for the specific page or post you are editing and then add the FAQ Schema through the Schema tab in the Rank Math settings. This feature is available in the PRO version of Rank Math.

For detailed guidance on adding FAQ Schema with Elementor or other builders, you can refer to our documentation here: How to Add FAQ Schema With Elementor and Rank Math.
