Hello, we apologize for the issue you are facing with the FAQ display in Rank Math. The error you are encountering, where the character sequence u003cbru003e appears, typically indicates that there is an issue with how HTML entities are being processed in your content.
To resolve this, please ensure that you are using the correct formatting for line breaks in your answers. Instead of using “, try using a simple newline or ensure that any HTML tags are properly formatted and not being converted into their entity representations.
If the problem persists, we recommend replying to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention!
When I hit enter for a new line or use <br> or the character “-” or insert a link, it causes an error. I don’t know why it didn’t happen in previous versions of WordPress. However, currently, when I edit the post, the Rank Math SEO FAQ block reports an error saying ‘This block contains invalid data’ even though the previous version of the post was not affected.
This error causes <br> or – characters to be encoded. When the Rank Math SEO plugin is deactivated, the error does not occur.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Did you make any changes to the theme or layout you are using on the website? Those changes in theme could cause issues like this.
Adding the FAQ block again will probably fix the issue. Could you please try adding the block again?
Alternatively, you can use the Better Search Replace plugin to fix the issue.
Replace u003cbru003e with <br> in the wp_posts table of your database. Please make sure to take a complete backup of your site before running the search and replace.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
– I did not make any changes to the theme or layout you’re using on the website.
– Re-adding the FAQ block still did not resolve the issue.
– I used the Better Search Replace plugin, which fixed the problem. (However, when I manually edit, such as adding or removing content, pressing enter, or adding characters like “-” to insert a link, it becomes encoded… for example, inserting a link results in different encoding, not u003cbru003e.)
When I deactivate Rank Math SEO, everything returns to normal without any encoding issues… but when I reactivate Rank Math SEO, the error reoccurs
Hello,
We have shared this with our developers. We will get back to you once we have an update or solution from them.
In the meantime, can you please add your site’s WordPress and FTP access details in the Sensitive Data Section(You can access the sensitive data section by editing the first post in this ticket) so we can debug this by making changes in the plugin files? You can request this from your host.
Thank you so much for your patience while we resolve this for you.
Hello,
Could you please add your site’s admin and FTP access in the Sensitive Data section, as mentioned by my colleague? We’ll need to debug this issue on your site since we couldn’t reproduce it on ours. Please take a look at this screencast from our setup: https://i.rankmath.com/v/rALsbx
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello RANK MATH SEO support team.
Thank you for your enthusiastic assistance.
After my investigation, I found that this issue arose because my website inserted a piece of code into the function.php, which affected the FAQ of RANK MATH SEO.
I have resolved the issue. However, I am unable to delete the ticket, so I have changed its status to ‘Resolved.’
I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and hope you understand!
