  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta titles and descriptions not appearing as expected in Google search results. It can be frustrating when the information you set in the Rank Math plugin does not reflect in the search results.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Your Meta Settings: Ensure that the meta title and description are correctly set in the Rank Math plugin for the specific page. You can do this by editing the page in WordPress and checking the Rank Math meta box.

    2. Use Google Search Console: Log in to Google Search Console and use the URL Inspection Tool to check how Google views your page. This will help you see if Google has indexed the latest version of your page.

      • Enter your page URL and check the Last Crawl date. If it’s before your changes, you can request indexing to prompt Google to re-crawl your page.
        Inspect URL on GSC
    3. Cache Check: You can also check if Google has cached the latest version of your page by entering cache: followed by your URL in the search bar. This will show you how your page appeared when Google last cached it.
Enter cache followed by the full URL into the search bar

    4. Google’s Discretion: Sometimes, even after setting everything correctly, Google may choose to display a different title or description based on what it believes is more relevant to the search query. This is beyond our control, as Google may override custom meta information.

If you’ve checked all these aspects and are still experiencing issues, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or questions, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

This usually happens when Google decides to show a different title or description than what you’ve set in Rank Math. Even if you’ve configured the meta tags correctly, Google may rewrite them based on the search query or if it considers other content more relevant.

Please follow the steps below to ensure everything is correctly set up:
    1. Right-click your page and choose “View Page Source”, then confirm the correct <title> and <meta name=”description”> tags appear. You can also use tools like our Rank Math Meta tag analyzer (Please check if the correct title and description meta are displayed on this meta tag analyzer tool: https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/) to preview what’s embedded.

    2. Google sometimes overrides the meta title/description you set based on what it deems most relevant. This behavior is common and not controlled by Rank Math.

    3. Check that the settings in Rank Math’s Schema tab for your post or page are correct. The Headline should show %seo_title%, and the Description should show %seo_description%.
