Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 404 error in Instant Indexing. This error typically occurs when a user or Googlebot tries to access a URL that does not exist on your website. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
-
Check the URL: Ensure that the URL you are trying to index is correct and that the page exists on your site.
-
Redirect Removed Pages: If the page has been moved or deleted, create a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. This helps preserve any link equity from the old URL. You can refer to our guide on how to do this here.
-
Fix Broken Links: Check for any internal or external links pointing to the missing page and update them accordingly. If possible, reach out to sites linking to your deleted pages and request an update to the correct URL.
-
Create a Custom 404 Page: Design a user-friendly 404 page that guides visitors to helpful content on your site. Include links to popular posts or a search bar to help users find what they want.
If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Hello,
Assuming you have submitted the URL, that means that the URL was still not processed by the Indexing API from Google. It’s important to note that the requirements for that have changed and now the URLs go through rigorous spam detection.
Besides that, the guidelines now state that this is exclusive to a particular set of websites, so if your website doesn’t fall under that category or is considered spammy the submission will go through but the API will never parse the URLs.
You can check the full guidelines here: https://developers.google.com/search/apis/indexing-api/v3/quickstart

Looking forward to helping you.
