    Hello Rank Math Support Team,

    I hope you’re doing well.

I’m reaching out regarding an SEO issue flagged by Lighthouse and confirmed by my hosting provider. The message states that:
“Document does not have a meta description.”

According to my hosting provider, the issue stems from the meta description tag not being properly added in the website code. They clarified that this is related to the app-level code and SEO setup, and they recommended resolving it with the help of an SEO expert or developer.

Here is the guide they shared for reference:

Since I’m using Rank Math for SEO management, I’d appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue. Could you please help me:

Ensure that Rank Math is correctly outputting meta descriptions across all pages.
Identify if there’s any misconfiguration or missing setup within the plugin that could be causing this.
Advise if there are any specific settings I should review or update to fix this.
Looking forward to your guidance and support on this matter.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding the missing meta description. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

To ensure that Rank Math is correctly outputting meta descriptions across all pages, please follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Meta Descriptions in Rank Math: Make sure that you have set the SEO Meta Title and Description for each page or post using Rank Math. You can do this by editing the post/page and scrolling down to the Rank Math SEO settings.

      • For the Classic Editor:
Editing Meta Title and Description using Classic Editor
      • For Gutenberg:
Editing Meta Title and Description in Gutenberg
    2. Ensure Schema Settings Are Valid: Check the Schema settings in Rank Math for the specific post or page. The Headline should show %seo_title% and the Description should show %seo_description%. This ensures that your SEO title and description are used for structured data.

    3. Check Page Source Code: Verify that the meta description is being output in the page’s source code. You can do this by right-clicking on your page and selecting View page source. Look for the “ tag to confirm it is present.
Check the Title and Meta description set in the page's source code

    4. Plugin Conflicts: If you have other plugins installed, they might be conflicting with Rank Math. Try deactivating other plugins one by one to see if that resolves the issue.

If after following these steps you still encounter issues, please reply to this ticket with your website URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific guidance.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to helping you resolve this issue!
