Dissaperaring admin bar and drasticcly lower number 1st pages on google

Hello. I noticed two things recently and I didn’t change anything in the settings. The first is that sometimes the admin bar from the top of the wordpress page disappears. It looks like its showing the cached page (old version of the page). And in fact sometimes when I refresh or press ctrl + f5 the admin bar comes back and shows the new version of page. But it’s not entirely clear what causes it.

The second thing is that the results of the first pages in google suddenly dropped from 100, in December 50, and today only 20. Could this be the result of a large number of articles and words on the page? I have about 400 of them and they are long. I didn’t change anything else. I thought my SEO was good. I don’t know if I can expect any help from you here, for example to check if an article is good for SEO, or maybe some settings are wrong. Thank you and good plugin.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We have not received similar issues about the situation happening on your site. In this case, please try clearing your website’s cache for troubleshooting.

Regarding your website, I’ve checked its sitemap and robots.txt, but they seem to be working fine. In this case, please check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine any issues reported on your pages:
    https://support.artlogic.net/hc/en-gb/articles/360016851260-Google-Search-Console-errors-and-coverage-issues

You can share the errors in the coverage section so we can check and advise accordingly.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Do you suggest that problem is with my Firefox? But you don’t have acess to my admin bar and you can’t see now if it is visible or not. I don’t know how to diagnose this problem, because half year ago problem was not there.

As for search console it shows some errors but mostly they’re caused by robots.txt and blocking some pages like tags, feed, embeded.

Sometimes it shows that the font is too small on mobile, but it’s probably the theme’s fault and it can’t be changed.

Maybe instead of writing here I will somehow give you limited access to my search console or to my site to check the settings related to the admin bar?

I’ve checked my site on MS Edge and problem is the same. It is something with site within.

    Hello,

Those pages are usually recommended to be set as noindex or be blocked by your robots.txt file as you don’t want those pages to appear on the SERP, especially the /feed pages.

As for your admin bar issue, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

“Those pages are usually recommended to be set as noindex or be blocked by your robots.txt file as you don’t want those pages to appear on the SERP, especially the /feed pages.”

I think these pages are blocked. Am i right? Only feed is not blocked. It’s not good decision?

As for FTP account details it is required or i need only install temporary login plugin?

    Hello,

You can only share the login details of your WP admin dashboard. And you can add the Disallow: */feed/ rule in the robots.txt file to block the feed if they are getting crawled by Google.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I need your e-mail to create temporary login with plugin

Or maybe it will work without it [moved to sensitive data]

    Hello,

Checking the admin bar while logging in as admin to your website, the admin bar seems to be showing just fine as you can see in my video screencast here: https://i.rankmath.com/v/Z1PxrY

It it seems that I am missing something, can you please record a screencast from your end showing the issue? You may use this handy tool https://loom.com and share the URL here so we can reproduce the issue.

    Looking forward to helping you.

You can reproduce this by clicking on some article and do not reload it manually. Instead of this click on name of my site on top of site to go back to homepage.

It is mostly random. For once it can show admin bar and in other cases i think it appears that cached page is showed without admin bar.

Maybe this is something with plugins velocity fast minify or wp fastest cache.

And what about SEO? Do you see some bad habits in my articles which are resulting in too low number of pages in top 10 google?

    You can reproduce it easier.

    1. Log out
    1. Log in
    2. Immidiatly after enter swiadomosc-zwiazkow.pl/ in your browser (i’m using firefox)

Admin bar dissapears. If you cannot replicate his i’ll try to use this loom software (if its free)

I’m using cloudflare too. Maybe problem is with some caching options or TTL? I’ve deleted cache in firefox and it is working now but i know problem will replicate in some time.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, I am still not able to reproduce the issue you are having.

Here’s what I have done so far:

    1. Logged in to your WP admin using the temporary login URL you shared. I am using Firefox
    2. I logged out and logged in again. Visited the homepage URL directly but the admin bar is still there.
    3. I visited some articles without refreshing the pages but still, I can’t find any issues.

In this case, this may be just a heavy local caching on your end. Have you tried visiting your pages using a fresh browser or any incognito tab?

Also, you may try to conduct a plugin/theme troubleshooting if there is really a plugin that may have caused this. You may refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Ok. I have few questions about SEO to get better results.

    1. Seo analyzer gave me warning that i have

More than 20 H2 tags were found on your homepage.

Why i need to fix this? I’m using them in all of my blog posts.

    H1 are for titles.

    2. Do google prefer to delete archives completly if i’m using categories? Do they duplicate and worsen finding my page by users?

    3. Do i need use tags to google see my page better? I’ve checked now options like no index, no arvhives and no fragments because i don’t use tags.

    4. META dates robots. What is it doing? It is indexing publishing blog post dates in search results or only in archives?

    5.
    Noindex Subpages
    Noindex Paginated Single Pages

I think this is badly translated or i don’t understand this.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    1. You should edit your homepage and change some of the headings from H2 to H3 or H4 to avoid this warning. In this case, you may need to get in touch with your theme development team to update the H2 tags on your homepage.

However, please note that sometimes, it’s something that’s just “unfixable” because if you have a list of posts on your homepage, all of them have a title and most themes make use of the H2 tags for titles in that instance. If that’s the case, then you can ignore this test from the SEO Analyzer tool.

    2. Archive pages are helpful for your visitors to navigate through your website’s hierarchy. However, those can hurt your website’s SEO as they are prone to duplicate content issues with search engines as well as compete for keywords with more important products/pages.

You can check our guide here to optimize your archive pages:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/content-analysis-for-archive-pages/

    3. Usually, the tags are also prone to thin or duplicate content. However, those are useful for blog posts to engage with your site and find relevant content.

Here’s an article to help you decide if you’re going to use tags on your site:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/blog-post-tags-seo/392067/

    4. Are you referring to article:published_time and article:modified_time meta tags on your site? If so, they are used to specify the time that your article was published/modified.

    5. Please refer to our guide here to best explain the difference between those features:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/#noindex-archive-subpages

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
