Hello,
Thanks for contacting us.
Please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor
That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.
However, when you see a 404 for a different domain name, that actually means someone or a bot is trying to access your website at https://yourdomain.com/otherdomain.com
You can simply ignore this 404. There is nothing to be worried about.
However, when visiting the other domain, it is being redirected to your website. That’s why you are seeing your site’s title and description in the search results. Have you ever owned this domain and redirected it to the new one?
We really look forward to helping you.
Thank you Jaideep Asrani for your very clear clarification.
