Different Domain proxy

#539886
  • Hi,

because we use different CMS for our range of products, but they share the same domain, I do have an issue with the Sitemap and it’s URLs.

Our new WordPress Website we use for Marketing/Information purposes. It is installed under a subdomain start.domain.com on a different (from our main product) AWS Lightsail instance.

We proxy the domain without the subdomain to it as well. It is reachable under domain.com/info as well.

The Problem now is that all the URLs in the sitemap are the ones with the subdomain. And I can reach the sitemap only via the subdomain URL, but not via the Proxy URL.

Is there a solution for this?

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Unfortunately, we cannot think of a solution for the particular problem you are facing.

Rank Math considers the installation folder while generating the Sitemaps.

If you wish to make changes to the URL, you have to make the change from WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks. But, I don’t think that would be ideal for your situation.

If there is no particular reason for you to have a sub-domain, we would recommend keeping the sub-directory only because a sub-domain is treated as a separate website by Google. Which means, any authority you have on your main domain will not pass down to the sub-domain. It will to the sub-directory.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
