We’ve been setting up Rank Math for clients for years and then importing the SEO settings from all other plugins, such as Yoast SEO. However, we now have a client whose SEO settings aren’t working. At 70%, an error occurs as soon as the “Starting SEO Score Recalculation” option appears. We’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Rank Math several times. We need help!

When encountering an error during the import process, especially at the point of recalculating SEO scores, we recommend trying the following steps:

Skip Recalculation: If the error occurs during the SEO score recalculation, you can try importing the data without selecting the option to recalculate SEO scores. This can sometimes bypass the issue and allow the import to complete successfully.

Use Import & Export Feature: If you missed importing data during the Setup Wizard, you can always use the Import & Export feature. Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Status & Tools → Import & Export → Other Plugins. Here, you can select the data you want to import from Yoast and proceed with the import without recalculating scores.

Check for Conflicts: Ensure that there are no other plugins that might be conflicting with Rank Math. Sometimes, other SEO plugins or caching plugins can cause issues during the import process.

Review Server Resources: Check if your server has enough resources (like memory limit) to handle the import process. Sometimes, increasing the PHP memory limit can help resolve such issues.

You can continue the setup by skipping the importing process. After that, please try reimporting the data in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Import & Export > Other Plugins, then under the plugin column, uncheck the Calculate SEO Scores option below, and click the Import button.
