Creating a rule for auto-redirect prompt when changing a product to draft?

#1109136
  • Hey, team! I’m interested in buying the pro version, but I need to know something beforehand: with pro, can I count on that when I change a product’s status from published to draft, I can redirect its URL to lead to its parent category or home page? I know I can do it for a deleted product, but what about draft?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you’re facing. Currently, Rank Math does not automatically create redirects when changing a product’s status from published to draft. The automatic redirection feature primarily focuses on handling deleted products or changed URLs. However, you can manually set up a redirection for the product URL to lead to its parent category or home page using the Redirections module in Rank Math Pro.

To do this, you would need to:

    1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Redirections.
    2. Add a new redirection by specifying the old product URL and the new target URL (parent category or home page).

This way, whenever a product is set to draft, you can ensure that visitors are redirected appropriately.

If you’re looking for more advanced features or assistance with setting up your redirects, consider checking out our professional setup service at Rank Math Services. This service requires a PRO subscription and can help ensure your plugin setup is fully correct and adheres to the latest SEO standards.

Thank you for considering Rank Math Pro! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reply to this ticket.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and bringing your concern to our attention.

Currently, there is no feature to count whether a page is published or in draft for redirection.

However, since changing a page’s status to draft results in a 404 error for its URL, you can set a Fallback Behavior in your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Redirections. This allows you to redirect such pages to your homepage or a custom page.

For more details, please refer to the following article: https://rankmath.com/kb/general-settings/?#fallback-behaviour

Hope that helps, and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
