Connecting to Google analytics

    Rank Math free

Just updated the plugin, looking forward to connecting Google Analytics BUT…

If I have an Analytics account, connected Console and running everything with the tag manager…just double checking with you…

Is it right that Rank Math wants to create a new google analytics account??? I’m confused, I thought it was connecting to my already existing account? And if that is right, how are the fine details going to work…do I have to add a whole bunch of new information to the header of the website? And additional configuration of things in the Google Tag Manager?

    Thanks for your help.
    Nick

  • My understanding is that it uses your one account. I am worried about the adding of new data to the header of the website but there is an option on the rankmath dashboard to toggle google analytics code on/off

So is it normal that there is a request to create a new account? Actually, the way it looks is that I am giving Rank Math full permission to create a new google analytics account with my credentials…which is basically a new account.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support.

You do not need to install the Google Analytics code if you are already using Google Tag Manager to handle that.

Connecting the account helps fetch the data for the new Analytics module. You should connect the account that has the data in it so it could be shown inside WordPress.

All the data is fetched and processed on our servers. You can read our plugin usage policy here:
    https://rankmath.com/usage-tracking/

Hope that helps. If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

This doesnt answer the question. When you try to connect the account, is Rankmath creating a new account?

    Hello,

If the Gmail account you chose has the website added to it, the plugin does not need to create a new Analytics account. It simply shows all the properties available in that Google Analytics account. Otherwise, it helps to create a new Google Analytics property.

    Hope that clears the confusion.

    Thank you.

    great, thank you!

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the video and sorry for the confusion.

Verifying with Google Search Console and using the new Analytics modules are completely different things (in a way).

The Analytics module helps you see crucial stats inside your WordPress dashboard after you connect your account with Rank Math’s Google app. Like this:
    rank math analytics

Adding the meta tag in the options panel simply helps you verify your website with Google Search Console so you can view the stats here:

Hope that clears the confusion. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

This is still not helpful. If you look in the video you will notice that there is a request to create a new google analytics account. Before I go any further…can you confirm that you guys can see that.

Never mind the first part of the video, it was just to show that I have a google analytic account and it is linked with my Google console. That was the sole purpose of that. Much more important was the 6 steps and the final screen which clearly shows a request to allow the creation of a new account. It was not linking to my account and letting me pick my properties. So, again, is this the proper behavior of the steps I need to go through? IF so, why is it asking to create a new account if I already have one?

    Hello,

    Sorry for the confusion.

The app won’t create a Google Analytics view automatically. The permissions is taken, if someone wants to create a fresh view for their site. Otherwise, they can select from the dropdown.

Please check this video screencast that will explain how it looks when authorized:
