Confused about keyword ranking

    Hi,

This is not direct issue with RankMath but I thought to ask what RM support thinks about this situation.
We have product page where we have inserted keyword “uduvastane puhastuslapp”. The page is ranking in position 2 with that exact keyword phrase. Now if i search for “uduvastane” without the second word, the page is not ranking nowhere.

Would it be fine to enter “uduvastane” as keyword under product page? The keyword density will be very high after that and it shows that keywords are used way too often. I’m wondering if it would have any different result or would rank for both because technically they are same word, one can just be considered as long-tail keyword.

Sorry, the keywords are in Estonian.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I checked the current focus keyword you used and it translates as “anti-fog cleaning cloth” in English. “uduvastane” is “anti-fog” which is a bit of a broad keyword.

This means that the keyword “uduvastane puhastuslapp” is much more optimized for your website than the keyword “uduvastane”.

If you need to rank for that keyword, this would require you devising an SEO strategy as the keyword is very competitive.

Here are some resources I think you will find useful:

    Hi Jeremy,

Appreciate your quick reply on this case.

Thank you also for all the links. I’m quite familiar with SEO but this just kind of confused me. “Uduvastane” in english “Anti-fog” is broad match yes but in Estonian neither of the keywords have any competition. When we talk about English ones, yes, there is higher competition for that particular keyword “Anti-fog”.

My concern was rather about Estonian where there is very little competition. “Uduvastane puhastuslapp” got into 1st page within week.

I was just wondering if I do change the targeted keyword to just “uduvastane” or add it as extra, would it help to rank with that particular broad keyword or its just not wise move?

As I’m currently talking about local language, Estonian keywords, then there is pretty much no competition.

I will go through all the suggested links and see if I can find any logic here.

Thank you very much once again!

    Hello,

Yes, it is a good practice to try those keywords as they won’t hurt your current rankings that much and since you are targeting locally, the audience for the keyword is narrowed down which is also make it a bit less competitive now.

With that said, please do let us know how that goes.

If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Thank you.
