    Hello,
I would like to add the category name to the page URL but haven’t been able to figure it out yet.

First, I don’t see any category selection on the Edit Page—I only see it on the Edit Post.

However, when I chatted with RankMath AI, it mentioned that this is possible, but I still need help.

Could you please let me know how to do it? That would be greatly appreciated.

As an example, I created a category called “Operations” and want to include a page called “Ready – Maintenance Service” under that category.

The URL I would like to use is:
    livwith.com/operations/maintenance-service

However, when I tried to edit the permalink via Rank Math’s “Edit Snippet,” I wasn’t able to make the change.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with adding the category name to your page URL. To achieve this, you need to ensure that your permalink structure is set up correctly in Rank Math.

Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Enable Category Base Removal: Go to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Links and enable the Remove category base option. This will allow you to have cleaner URLs without the /category/ prefix.
      Remove Category Base Option

    2. Remove Parent Slugs: If you want to remove any parent category slugs from your URLs, you can enable the Remove parent slugs option in the same settings area. This will help in shortening your URLs further.

    3. Edit the Page Permalink: When editing your page, you should see an option to edit the permalink directly below the title. If you want your URL to be livwith.com/operations/maintenance-service, you can manually set it there after ensuring that the category is correctly assigned to the page.

    4. Assigning Categories to Pages: If you don’t see a category selection on the Edit Page screen, it’s likely because WordPress does not natively support categories for pages. You may need to use a plugin that allows you to assign categories to pages or consider using custom post types if this is essential for your structure.

If you still encounter issues or if this does not resolve your problem, please reply to this ticket with your site URL, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

Please note that WordPress categories are only applied to the “Posts” post type.

So, if you want to achieve that URL on the “Pages” post type, you may need to do it via child pages.

The “Operations” will be the parent page, and the “Ready – Maintenance Service” would be the child page under it.

Unfortunately, Rank Math cannot be used to achieve that. If you want to try it, you can use the plugin below to get the /category/page/ URL structure:

    Looking forward to helping you.
