Is it possible to have these details without introducing a payment method before purchase?

You can add the VAT identification number during the checkout process as shown below:

And if you need to change any billing information on your invoice, you can proceed to purchase and get in touch with our payment provider FastSpring. So, by contacting them, you can add your company informations to the invoice as well.

For payment method, you’ll need to add payment information during checkout process only, as you can see in the image attached above.
