Canonical URLs for paginated product categories?

    Hello,

    I’m seeing that paginated pages of product categories are in Google. I was told that it’s good to canonicalise the paginated pages. So I’m wondering how is this achived with RankMath? I just put the canonical URL in the product category and all other paginated pages will then be considered as not so important by Google?

    Thank you for contacting the support.

    We add self-referencing canonical URLs on paginated pages. If you do not want the paginated pages to be indexed on the SERPs, you can enable the Noindex Paginated Pages and Noindex Archive Subpages options under Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages:

    If you do not want to noindex the paginated pages and only want the canonical URL to point to the first page, you can either manually add the canonical URL to the individual product category pages under the Advanced Tab of Rank Math’s SEO Meta Box or you can modify and use this filter: https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/#change-canonical-url

    In any of the above-mentioned cases, Google would index the main/first page of the series.
