    I’m experiencing an issue with canonical tags on paginated category pages. Despite setting a canonical for paginated pages to point to the main category URL, Rank Math automatically sets the tag as index, follow instead of noindex, follow. This causes the paginated pages to index, creating duplicate content issues. I’ve tried using custom code in functions.php, but the settings seem to override Rank Math’s defaults. How can I ensure paginated pages show the correct canonical with noindex, follow? Please solve my problem.

    I removed all my custom codes now, and believe to set and solve all things to stay with rank math now?

    I’d like to follow the approach of this website regarding pagination. They’re setting pagination pages to “noindex, follow” with the canonical pointing to the main URL.

    For my setup, I want each pagination page to have a canonical pointing to the main URL, with pagination pages set to “noindex, follow.” That’s all.

    I’m updating a sensitive section with a 3-day expiration. The issue is that pagination pages are set to “noindex, follow,” but now the canonical tag is missing. I want each pagination page to show the main category URL as the canonical link. If I disable the “noindex” setting for pagination pages, then the canonical tag appears, but it also changes to “index, follow,” which causes a conflict. Please help resolve this so that I can maintain the “noindex, follow” with the correct canonical URL.

    Hello,

    Please note that Rank Math only adds the canonical URL to your pages when it is set to index. For the Noindexed pages, there is no need for the canonical URL as Google and other search engines are not going it index that.

    However, as you requested, we added the filter code to your WPCode plugin and now the canonical URL is showing on your product category paginated paged even then are set to Noindex. You can check the screenshot in the sensitive data section for reference.

    On the main category page, there is a two-line description below the heading at the top. I’ve successfully pulled the title onto paginated pages (like page 2 and page 3), but the description is missing. Is there a way to have the same description appear on all paginated pages, just like on the main category page?

    In the view source, the tags show up correctly as “noindex, follow.” However, in the detailed SEO extension, it displays as “index, follow,” which seems to conflict with the Rank Math plugin or any custom code applied. What could be causing this discrepancy, and is there an underlying issue with the plugin or manual code that might be affecting this?

    I’m facing this same issue with canonical tags on paginated category pages. Even though I set the canonical to point to the main category URL, Rank Math is still setting the pages as index, follow, resulting in duplicate content. Removing custom code didn’t help for me either, and Rank Math’s settings seem to override any manual changes. If anyone has successfully managed to force paginated pages to display as noindex, follow with Rank Math, I’d appreciate some guidance on fixing this!
