Cannot update RankMath

    When I try to update the wordpress plugin, I get this message: “Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.”
    I have checked the plugins folder and it has write permissions enabled. All of my other plugins update without a problem. Please advise.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Please login to your site via FTP and delete the current Rank Math SEO plugin folder and perform a fresh install of the plugin. This should then fix the file writing issue.
    PS: No data loss should be experienced in this process but it is always safe to perform a backup beforehand.

    Can this be done via file manager on siteground? Or does it have to be via FTP?

    Hello,

    I am trying to update RankMath on one of my sites, but it will not update, Error > same as above null.

    However, when I try to delete RankMath plugin via FTP, I also get an error and unable to delete null

    I posted reply several days ago, but it seems to have disappeared!
    I deleted the the plugin folder and attempted to reinstall rankmath, but it failed to install saying, plugin folder already exists!
    I had to roll my site back and so am still stuck with an un-updateable version.
    Your help would be greatly apprectiated.

    Could you please get in touch with your host about this? The error is related to the permissions on your site directory and they may be in a better position to diagnose and fix this.
