Cannot import from Yoast

I am trying Rank Math on my staging site that was previously using Yoast.
During the wizard setup, the import from Yoast failed. I have tried different solutions posted on your KB (rolling back to a previous version, uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling) and am still not able to import anything from Yoast. When I try to use the plugin importer, the message box says:
    [11:34:13] Import started…
    [11:34:13] Importing settings

Then nothing happens, no matter how long I wait.

Not sure if it is related, but when I try to create a backup, nothing happens when I click the button.

Any ideas on what to try next?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

This seems like a conflict with one of your installed plugins that is affecting the import process. I have just tried to disable plugins using the Health Check and troubleshooting plugin but this did not bear fruit.

Could you please manually disabled all other installed plugins and check if the import will be successful?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I deactaivated all plugins, except for Rank Math and Yoast. Regrettably, no change.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    HI Marco,

I have passed this on to our dev team for closer investigation and we will be getting back to you.

    We appreciate your continued patience.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I couldn’t log in to your site with the admin link you added in the Sensitive Data Section? Can you please check and add the correct link?

    Looking forward to helping you.

fixed the issue. Confirmed I can log in

    Hello,

Thank you for leaving the details.

Please check the sensitive data section. We have added the screencasts.

Everything ported correctly and everything seems to be working just fine.

Can you please check and confirm on your end?

It looks like you did something to the functions.php file, but I couldn’t figure out what you did.

This URL is only my test site, so I’ll need to recreate the steps on my live site when I’m done testing the plugin.

    Hi Marco,

We added a filter to your theme’s functions.php that removes ALL Rank Math information upon deleting the plugin and then we reinstalled the plugin.

Then, the import worked just fine suggesting that there was an interruption during the first time you tried it.

We have removed the mentioned code from your theme’s functions.php so you do not need to worry about that.

    Thank you.

I’m looking to add a FAQ and HowTo. I see instructions on your website, but they use Elementor, Divi, or Gutenberg. Does RankMath integrate with Thrive Architect at all? Is there any work around?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

I am afraid that the FAQ and HowTo schema blocks are currently only available when editing with Gutenberg. There are plans to add compatibility for other page builders and you can expect to see this sometime in the future.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Marco,

You can use the following method to add the new blocks inside Elementor:

    1. Create a new post/page using the Block Editor and add the HowTo or FAQ block inside the content.

    2. Save the post and continue making rest of the changes using Elementor.

If you already have a post or page that you want to edit and add the HowTo or FAQ Schema, please do the following:

    1. Edit the post using the Elementor editor and the HowTo or the FAQ blocks in the Elementor editor using any of the available widgets.

    2. Head back to Gutenberg and add a HowTo or FAQ Block.

    3. Feel free to change back to Elementor and continue adding more elements to the page using the Elementor editor and publish the post/page.

Your newly published post/page will have the Schema Markup coming from the Rank Math plugin and the styling from the Elementor editor.

This is a bit cumbersome process, but it is the only way out at this time.

    I hope that helps.

Also, there are existing feature requests, so I’ve added your vote to our internal suggestions lists. If your suggestions are something that we’re able to introduce, I’ll be sure to let you know.

    Thank you.
