[Bug] Users are redirected to the home page despite having proper redirections

    Issue: If you ahev enabled the option to Redirect all attachment page URLs to let’s say home page. And then you have also enabled the Redirection tool and added redirection for some path. Sometimes some of those pathes gets redirected to the home page instead of actually redirecting to where it is supposed to be.

    But again, this is not happening with all redirects source paths but some.

    I’ve noticed this issue while working on one of client site who reported me this issue. Then while doing further drill down, I came to figure out what’s going on and hence this report. Please fix the problem/bug as soon as possible.

    As this is a wired problem, I’ve screen record the issue and shared the screen recording in the sensitive data section so that you guys can watch it and understand the problem better. Please forward this thread to the development team.

    Hello,

    Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    If the URLs are redirecting to the homepage when the Redirect Attachments option is enabled, it means that you have some media files that have attachment pages with the same slugs as the URLs you are trying to redirect. You will have to find those media files and edit the slug of their attachment pages to make the redirections work properly.

    Thanks for the reply. I’ve changed the slug of the attachment page to resolve this issue. But I just hope changing the slug of attachment page won’t cause broken image on the site.

    We are glad this helped. Changing the attachment page slug will not break the image file link. You can check by visiting the parent post or directly visiting the image file URL.

    Thanks for your reply. But I still consider this as bug cause in the current situation the attachment page redirection has higher priority than the redirection table. Which should be opposite. Don’t you guys think so?

    Hello,

    The redirections from any of the settings of the plugin will take precedence over the redirections in our specific module.

    This is the intended behavior and what the dev team has decided to implement in the plugin from the very beginning.
