Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Could you please head over to Rank Math > General Settings > Breadcrumbs > Show Category(s) and check whether this option has been enabled?
Next, head over to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Select the post type > Primary Taxonomy and ensure that the right taxonomy is selected?
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
Hi Michael,
Rank Math > General Settings > Breadcrumbs > Show Category(s)
Is “On”
Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Select the post type > Primary Taxonomy
Primary Taxanomy ist set to categories.
Maybe related to this topic – I would like to set the Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Post >
Category Archive Titles to “Wien – Winter – Randgebirge östl. d. Mur”, but whatever shortcode I use I can only get “Randgebirge östl. d. Mur”.
If I select %categories% the preview is “Randgebirge öst. der Mur, Wien, Winter” (wrong sort orderm but at least all values there). Unfortunately the category archives page titel is still only “Randgebirge öst. der Mur”

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.
When you have more than 1 category on a post, Rank Math gives you the option to choose the primary category so that is the one which will appear in your Breadcrumbs:
Please check that setting and make changes to your articles as per your preference.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hi,
thanks. The “Select Primary Term” setting is working. I am pretty sure, this is new and has not been there before. Nevertheless – good it is there now. 🙂
The %categories% term is still not working. It just shows blank?!

Hi Martin,
I am glad one issue is resolved.
Please check the individual category title. Whatever you set on an individual category will take priority over the global template. So, please check the individual category and check its title. If there is one, remove it so the global template takes effect.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
When RankMath > Titles & Meta > Categories > Category Archive Titles is set to “%term% %sep% %sitename%” the result is “Hochschwabgruppe – Bahn zum Berg”
The result should be “Hochschwabgruppe, Winter, Wien”.
Do I set it %categories% %sep% %sitename% the preview under the editfield shows “Hochschwabgruppe, Wien, Winter – Bahn zum Berg”.
The title of the archive page shows unfortunately “- Bahn zum Berg”.
So the preview works, the title field at the page does not.
Hi Matin,
> Do I set it %categories% %sep% %sitename% the preview under the editfield shows “Hochschwabgruppe, Wien, Winter – Bahn zum Berg”.
If you want to show all categories, that is the code you would use:
%categories% %sep% %sitename%
But, it works on individual posts only. It doesn’t work on the archives.
Moreover, the category archive is supposed to show just one category name – its own. So, you have to use %term% %sep% %sitename%
on category archives.
If you mean something else, let us know.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
I would like it a lot, when %categories% would work on category archives, too.
But I understood, it does work in a different way at the moment.
