Breadcrumbs issue/question

    Hi,
    I have one issue/bug and one question regarding Rank Math’s breadcrumbs:
    I have enabled the category hirarchy because I want all categories and subcategories displayed in the breadcrumbs. This is working for most of my products and product categories, but not for all of them. Some products still only show one category in the breadcrumb, even though there are one or two parent categories.

    And my question: if I want to always display all product categories in the breadcrumbs on category pages, but on single product pages I ONLY want “Home > My product”, so no category hirarchy at all on single product pages, how can I achieve this and would this be recommended for SEO? I know that you should keep your product urls short and tidy, so that is why we have opted to remove the product category slug in Rank Math seetings, but what about the breadcrumb structure on the single product pages? Should these be kept short too?

    To show the categories on your breadcrumbs, head over to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Post and select the Categories as Primary Taxonomy:

    Also, you will need to select the subcategory as your primary term to show the category and subcategory on your breadcrumbs:

    Hi,
    thank you. Could you please let me know though if it is recommended to keep breadcrumbs hirarchy short? I know breadcrumb structure does not need to be the same as the url, but would it be recommended for products to have breadcrumbs like

    Home / product ?

    Would this be better for SEO than

    Home / parent category / child category / child category / product ?

    Hello,

    We recommend keeping the breadcrumbs short and precise. However, if your categories are important navigational elements on your website, then you should follow the second approach (i.e., display categories and sub-categories).
