Blog Posts not being indexed

    Hi Guys

It has come to my attention that my individual BLOG POSTS aren’t being indexed on Google. My Site and Category Pages are indexed, but none of my posts show on Google SERPs.

I ran a search for: inurl:capetownbeaches.com and all pages & category archives are shown, but none of my actual posts, which is pretty weird. Looking at my sitemap, all my posts are listed.
    see: https://capetownbeaches.com/post-sitemap.xml

If I add the URL to Search Console URL Inspector, Google states the URL has been indexed.
I’m not sure if this is a RankMath setting issue, or a problem with Google.

Any advise would be appreciated, please.

    Thanks
    Duane

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. Iā€™m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your latest post using the site: operator, and it seems that it is already indexed on the Google search results page

    Latest

The inurl: operator searches for specific text in the indexed URLs. It will look for the text anywhere in the URL, including the folder and page/file names.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle

This is precisely the issue I am referring too…
If you look at the RESULT the URL shown at the top shows the Category URL & not the actual POST URL.
The link is correct, but the above part incorrect.

    Category URL

If I do an site: search for another of my blogs, then the SERP shows correctly and not the Category.
    See:
    Post URL

I’m not sure if this is a big deal, but I imagine it would have some influence on my rankings.

    Please advise further

    Thanks
    Duane

    Hello,

The category is being shown in the URL as the breadcrumbs that lead to your posts. It is completely fine as the URL is correct and will lead to your post. If you don’t want to show the breadcrumbs in the SERPs then please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Breadcrumbs and disable the breadcrumbs, and wait for Google to crawl the site again.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jaideep

    Thank you šŸ™‚
You say totally fine, but as a last question: which is the better option/setting?
(I am displaying the breadcrumbs on my site via the shortcode)

    Thanks

Sorry, another thing I noticed now…

When I try to SAVE settings in RankMath (i.e. change my Home Page Link Redirect in Breadcrumbs settings), the page goes to a 404-error page and the settings don’t update. What could be the issue with this, or do I need to open a separate ticket for this?

    Hello,

The issues with the 404 errors on the settings page seem to be caused by some security setting that is loading a ReCaptcha when the page saves and it fails to pass that so it returns a 404 error.

Did you add any additional security to your website recently that might have caused this?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Miguel

I have “All In One WP Security” Plugin that has Captcha enabled for User Registration, Post Commenting, etc…. Why would RankMath need to pre-load these pages to save settings?

I disabled the Security Plugin, saved my RankMath settings and re-activated the Sec Plugin. Overcome the issue at hand, but it might be time to look at another Sec Plugin šŸ™‚

    Thanks
    Duane

    Hello,

We noticed when we saved the settings on your website that the query parameter was being stripped and that was causing a 404 error.

A lot of plugins rely on those to save the settings to hook into the default admin.php file and the ReCaptcha was preventing that.

You can try to fiddle with the settings of that security plugin or completely disable the ReCaptcha to get around this issue.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi Miguel

I tried disabling various captcha settings and still had issues, so temporarily disabling the SEC Plugin will have to do for now šŸ™‚

Ticket can be closed; thanks for everything.
