My sitemap for aktivhudvard.se (https://aktivhudvard.se/sitemap_index.xml) is blank or showing page not found.
I have gone through the settings and troubleshooting suggestions from your website but still does not work.

I tested another SEO plugin and it works with their sitemap.

    So what is wrong?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap showing as blank or resulting in a page not found error. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Flush Permalinks

Sometimes, simply flushing the permalinks can resolve sitemap issues. To do this:

    • Go to your WordPress admin area.
    • Navigate to Settings → Permalinks.
    • Click the Save Changes button without making any changes.

    Flush permalink settings

    2. Check for Plugin Conflicts

If flushing permalinks does not work, there may be a conflict with another plugin or theme. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.

    3. Check Source Code

If your sitemap is still blank, check the source code of the sitemap page. If it is empty, there might be a conflict with another plugin or theme. If there is data in the source code, consider flushing the sitemaps cache and ensuring it is excluded from caching plugins.

    4. Rewrite Rules for Apache/Nginx

If you are using an Apache server, ensure that your .htaccess file has the correct rewrite rules. For Nginx, check your configuration file for the necessary rewrite rules as well. You can find more details on how to set these up in our Sitemap Issues article.

    5. Validate Your Sitemap

You can also validate your sitemap using the Validate XML Sitemap tool to ensure it is correctly configured.

If you have tried all these steps and the issue persists, we recommend replying to this ticket with any additional details or errors you may have encountered, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

I have already gone through these steps.
My web Servers are LightSpeed. I spoke to my hosting, and they are saying this issue seems to be the one with Rank Math.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

Please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you.

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. If the above steps don’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add a filter/hook to your WordPress site:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemaps, and resubmit only the index sitemap in the Search Console.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

It’s been 4 days and no reply?

I have done all the steps, but the link to the sitemap is still blank: https://aktivhudvard.se/sitemap_index.xm

GSC seems to find/see the sitemap. The status is “Success”.

I just don’t understand, cause I could see the list before when I clicked on the sitemap: https://aktivhudvard.se/sitemap_index.xml

    Hello,

Sorry about that, but your reply was stuck in drafts.

We checked your sitemap and returns white blank screen. This sitemap error indicates that there must be some white space before the XML Sitemap’s source code. You can also look at the source code of Sitemap and see if there is any extra line or space before the XML. This is caused by a blank line or space in your wp-config.php or functions.php file.

If you’re not able to find any white space then you can try to follow this guideline to fix the issue: https://wejn.org/stuff/wejnswpwhitespacefix.php.html

Once done, please try to clear the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast and see if that works for you: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

However, if you are unable to do this or if the fix does not work, please include your FTP details in the sensitive data section so we can fix this for you.

Also, I went ahead and check all the variations of your sitemap using https://httpstatus.io/ and we saw two Status codes. Please refer to my screenshot here:

    sitemap variation

Only one of the 4 variations should show a 200 status code. Three (3) of the sitemaps should show 301.

Please follow the steps in this link:
https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#5-check-for-the-correct-version-of-the-sitemap and redirect to the correct version.

Then, please ensure that your sitemap is not heavily cached as well. Please follow the steps below to address it:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, resubmit the sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console and wait for Google to recrawl the sitemap.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

I feel like I have done everything. This is taking up a lot of my time.
I have tried to redirect the other sitemapes as you recommend but it does not work. It will not submit.

The sumbited sitemap in GSC works. The only problem i have it that the sitemap_index.xml is a black white page.

Is there a way to delete the plugin and reinstall the app as new? Default settings?

Cause when i delete the plugin and install it again it just goes back to the settings i had before i deleted it.

I just don’t want to put more time into this.

    Hello,

In this case, we might need to take a closer look at your website to investigate this further. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the plugin below to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
