Thank you for the follow-up, and sorry for the delay.
We would recommend using plugins like my colleague provided to generate your TOC. Aside from Rank Math compatibility, some of their settings are already automated and require fewer customizations.
However, you can check this link on how to create your TOC manually or custom coded using the Gutenberg editor:
