Despite the setting being turned on and plenty of authors with posts, the author sitemap isn’t showing in our sitemap index.
Can someone please assist?

Hello,
I apologize for the issue you are facing with the author sitemap not showing in your sitemap index. Here are a few things you can check to resolve this issue:
-
Check Author Archives Settings: Ensure that the Author Archives option is enabled in Rank Math. You can do this by navigating to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Authors. Make sure that the option to include author archives in the sitemap is toggled on.

-
Include Authors Without Posts: If you want to include authors who do not have any posts, make sure to toggle on the option to include authors without posts in the sitemap.

-
Clear Caches: Sometimes, caching can prevent changes from appearing. Make sure to clear your browser, site, plugin, and server-level caches after making changes to the settings.
-
Check for Exclusions: Ensure that no user roles or specific users are excluded from the sitemap settings. You can check this under the Exclude User Roles and Exclude Users options in the Authors Tab of the Sitemap settings.

If you’ve checked all these settings and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

I’ve seen this happen when author archives are enabled but set to noindex. Please double check under Rank Math → Titles & Meta → Authors that Author Archives are enabled and not set to noindex. Also clear all cache and resave permalinks once. That usually makes the author sitemap appear.
Thanks sfor your assistance on this. They were previously set to
noindex, but that’s been updated, everything else is as it should be. I’ve cleared the cache multiple times and resaved settings/permalinks too.We have our authors on
/chefs/could that be an issue? I’ve updated this in Rank Math but still to no avail.Hello,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.
We can access the author’s sitemap directly here: https://journal.swaledale.co.uk/author-sitemap.xml
Please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you.
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/3. If the above steps don’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter to your site.
add_filter( ‘rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching’, ‘__return_false’);
Here’s how you can add a filter/hook to your WordPress site:
https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/Once done, clear your website cache and check the sitemap again.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hey thanks for getting back to me, but none of this has helped I’m afraid.
and I saved the settings, permalinks etc etc.
Any other suggestions please?
