    Dear Rank Math Support Team,

I am optimizing our eCommerce website built with WordPress and WooCommerce, using the Rank Math SEO plugin for optimization.

While analyzing Google Search Console, I encountered a warning stating: “Duplicate without user-selected canonical.” Upon reviewing the affected URL, I found that it corresponds to a shop page with selected filters:
    For example:
    https://thedayzee.com/shop/?filter_cat=51&brand_id=35,148,37,203,128,97&wmc-currency=USD
Like this there are 33.2K affected pages.
Since filtered pages dynamically generate different variations of the shop page, I do not believe it is necessary for them to be crawled and indexed. Could you please advise on the best way to handle this issue with RankMath SEO plugin?
    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    The Dayzee Team

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "Duplicate without user-selected canonical" warning in Google Search Console. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

This error occurs when Google identifies duplicate content on your website but cannot determine the preferred (canonical) version of those pages. In your case, it seems that the filtered shop pages are being treated as duplicates.

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

    1. Specify the Preferred Version: You can add a canonical tag to the head section of your shop page that points to the main shop URL. This informs search engines which version to prioritize.

    2. Use 301 Redirects: If certain filtered pages do not need to be indexed, consider implementing 301 redirects from those filtered URLs to the main shop page. This will help consolidate traffic and link equity.

    3. Noindex Meta Tag: If you want to prevent these filtered pages from being indexed altogether, you can use a noindex meta tag on those pages. This tells search engines not to index them.

    4. Consolidate Content: If possible, consider consolidating similar content into a single page to minimize duplication.
